IBERDROLA ENGINEERING IS AWARDED ITS TENTH WIND FARM PROJECT IN POLAND IN A CONTRACT WORTH 135 MILLION EUROS
The new complex, which will have a capacity of 82 megawatts, will be sited in Marszewo
  • IBERDROLA’s subsidiary reinforces its leading position in wind farm construction in Poland, where it has already developed more than 280 MW of capacity
  • The company is also building wind farms in another nine countries: Spain, Mexico, USA, France, Honduras, Brazil, Romania, Kenya and Bulgaria

IBERDROLA ENGINEERING has today been awarded a contract worth 135 million euros to build its tenth wind farm in Poland. The new complex, which will be sited in Marszewo, will have an installed capacity of 82 megawatts (MW).

With this plant, which it will build for the Polish company Tauron Ekoenergía, IBERDROLA’s subsidiary further reinforces its leading position in the development of wind farms in the country, where it has so far started up plants with a combined capacity of more than 280 MW and is currently building two more that will add a further 94 MW, in Korsze (70 MW) and Bystra (24 MW).

The Company, which plans to complete work on this new complex in 20 months, began working in the wind energy sector in Poland five years ago, with the construction of the 40.5 MW Kisielice wind farm. In 2010 it completed its largest complex to date, the Margonin plant, whose two phases combine to produce 120 MW of capacity.

IBERDROLA ENGINEERING, which has won contracts that underpin its international presence and confirm its position as a world leader in this sector, is currently building wind power facilities in another nine countries: Spain, Mexico, USA, France, Honduras, Brazil, Romania, Kenya and Bulgaria.

In the USA, for example, working through its subsidiary IBERDROLA Energy Project, it completed two wind farms during the course of 2011: a 28.5 MW facility in Hoosac, in the State of Massachusetts, and a 48 MW facility in Groton, in the State of New Hampshire.

It also recently began work on its first wind farm in France, near Poitiers, as well as completing the La Venta III facility for IBERDROLA in Mexico. This wind farm, which has a total capacity of 102 MW, is located in the State of Oaxaca and is one of the largest in Latin America.

IBERDROLA ENGINEERING, the Group’s core technology business, is a company devoted to the design and “turnkey” construction of energy infrastructure projects in the areas of conventional generation, nuclear power, renewable energies and transmission and distribution networks, with a portfolio of projects worth in excess of 2 billion euros in more than 30 countries.
