Julio Medem has made a documentary of the centennial history of IBERDROLA from the perspective of its major contribution to social development. The film, which is called Iberdrola en tiempo de vals (Iberdrola in waltz tempo), was presented in Bilbao during the Group's General Shaeholders' Meeting 2012, which was held on 22 June last.

The images were recorded at various locations in Spain, the U.K., the U.S. and Brazil, where most of the company's operations are based. Kiko de la Rica was Director of Photography and Lucas Vidal was the author of the original music for the film.

In this short film, of which there is a shorter and a longer version, the director describes the boost that investments in power plants gave to access to education, healthcare and training and the modernisation of many rural communities, as well as to the development of the country as a whole, due to the associated job and wealth creation.

With first-hand accounts from the men and women that contributed to the company's success, the tape also traces the development of the IBERDROLA industrial progress model, which generated a family atmosphere among its employees and promoted the values of commitment, effort, loyalty, honesty and teamwork for which the Group is renowned today.

This social commitment has been unwavering over the 100+ years of the company's history. It is evident in the purchases made and the direct and indirect jobs created; our support for training and innovation; the scholarship scheme organised by the Fundación Iberdrola; our respect for the environment and biodiversity; and our support for Paralympic sport, among other initiatives.
